2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX: Meet The New Member of The Cherokee Lineup

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX ramps up the automaker’s offerings in the red-hot midsize SUV segment with the LUXury appeal right in its name.

Past Cherokee lineups have received solid scores from many industry analysts including those at J.D. Power that listed it the third most popular in its 2018 list of  10 Most Popular Midsize SUVs and Crossovers. JD Power also gave it a 5 out of 5 score in its 2019 list of Highest Quality Family SUVs. With economic uncertainty, though, the question centers on buyers’ continued attraction to high-priced luxury brands. By contrast, the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX has a starting MSRP in the low $30,000 range.

“The new 2021 Cherokee Latitude LUX truly enhances the Jeep lineup and is a direct reflection of what our customers want and value the most in their vehicle – everyday practicality, exceptional comfort, with outstanding ride and handling characteristics,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “As the most capable midsize sport-utility vehicle, the Jeep Cherokee continues to offer consumers the ultimate blend of all-weather 4×4 capability and even more standard amenities at an incredible value.”

Cherokee Latitude LUX: Engine & Powertrain

The Cherokee Latitude LUX is standard with a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft. of torque. When properly equipped, the Cherokee Latitude LUX will tow up to 4,500 lbs. with the Pentastar V6. You can upgrade to the 2.0-liter turbo inline four-cylinder engine with an electronic start-stop system for $695 more. The turbo engine produces 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque.

Both engines are paired to a nine-speed automatic.

The Latitude LUX is standard with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system with five different drive modes and rear-axle disconnect (to improve fuel economy when 4×4 isn’t needed).

Interior Features

The Lux has standard Nappa leather seats, power and heated front seats with power lumbar adjuster, heated steering wheel, remote start, and windshield wiper deicer.
If you want to pony up a bit more, you can add a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX doesn’t look different than its siblings. There aren’t any major changes for any trim level in this model year. However, there are plenty of color choices:

  • Slate Blue
  • Sting Grey
  • Velvet Red
  • Billet Silver
  • Olive Green
  • Bright White
  • Granite Crystal
  • Spitfire Orange
  • Light Brownstone
  • Diamond Black Crystal

2021 Cherokee Latitude LUX Pricing

The LUX plops right in the middle of Cherokee’s eight trim line up. The LUX is priced at $30,145 for the 4×2 models, and just $1,200 bucks more ($31,645) gets you the 4×4. Tack on an additional $1,495 for the destination charge. There is an array of optional equipment, including the Comfort and Convenience Group, Sun and Sound Group, and the Trailer Tow Group.

The LUX is almost $7,000 less than the top-of-the-line Jeep Cherokee High Altitude FWD, which is priced at $36,965 plus that destination fee, but well above $26,535 MSRP (plus destination) of the Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD.
