With the 2018 Geneva Motor Show knocking at the door in around two weeks, Volvo has found time to present the all-new 2018 V60 ahead Geneva, in a handful of details which highlight the many technologies it will come with.
Set to become one of the most advanced models, the all-new 2018 Volvo V60 is seen as “the central point of the Volvo brand”, coming with an astonishing design with “beautiful proportion and stance”, yet delivering “practicality and versatility.”
Besides the much evolved design language and wider proportion, the all-new 2019 Volvo V60 also boasts technology at its peak, including the well-known semi-autonomous Pilot Assist system also available on the future truck range, along with plenty of active safety systems – City Safety with Autobrake technology – allowing for a safe drive and increased driving capabilities. The rest of the technologies it implement will be revealed in Geneva.
Other important aspects that we know of the 2018 Volvo V60 is that it will stand on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, increasing the space inside and allowing for a wide range of engines under the hood.
As aforementioned, the new V60 is also bigger. It is now 4,761 mm long – 117 mm longer than the XC60 – while the wheelbase stands at 2,872 mm. This translates in increased space inside – 529 liters with the rear seats in place and 841 liters with them folded down.
As for engine lineup, Volvo is offering in a premiere no less than two plug-in hybrid engines in Europe. We are dealing here with the T6 Twin Engine AWD developing 340 horsepower, as well as a top of the line T8 Twin Engine AWD, with 390 horsepower. The petrol range comprises a T5 and a T7, while the diesels refer to the D3 and D4.
As for the US-bound model, the new V60 is likely to receive the T5 FWD or the T6 AWD, with 250 horsepower and 316 horsepower, respectively. Stay tuned for more details next month in Geneva!
